Rain and more rain is (as I’m sure you’d agree if you live in the UK) how to describe this winter. Where have all the bright, blue-skied days and heavy frosts gone? Where is the the freezing cold to wrap-up warm against?
I’m sure many people would not mind missing the cold weather – but without the cold there can be no frost – no brief and sparkling world that lasts only until the sun pushes back the shadows and warms the earth once more.
This was the type of morning when I took this photograph a few years ago.
Decay is eminently photographic in any situation, but suspended frost gives it the impression of a world under the spell of a tyrannical ice queen – beautiful to look at, cold to the touch.
